Eighth Thesis on Theological Method

We must hold an exegetical and theological method that is able to be modified by new questions and observations. However, we must also be deeply suspicious of overly complex methodology that is specific to only a few verses or topics, exegetical methods that make passages say the opposite of what they say at face value, or any other attempts to “harmonise” the scriptural witness in the face of apparent contradiction.

Suspicious does not mean instantly dismissive, but extreme caution must be exercised.
